Leaseholders are residents who have purchased a flat or maisonette either from LHP or its predecessors Shoreline, Boston Mayflower, North East Lincolnshire Council or Boston Borough Council under the Right to Buy or Right to Acquire scheme, or on the open market by purchasing an ex-local authority dwelling.
Leaseholders purchase a lease of their home giving them the right to remain there for the term of their lease. The freeholder owns the building in which you live and is responsible for looking after the structure, exterior and common areas of the block. The leaseholder pays their share of the company’s costs of building and grounds maintenance.
If your home is a house bought on shared ownership terms, we continue to own the freehold, the land that the property is built on.
