Skip It 2019 update 05 June 2019 How much rubbish?

Two and a half tonnes of old white and electrical goods and more than 14,500kg of general rubbish – with a total collection over two ‘Skip It’ days of almost 28 tonnes of waste.

The second annual event to help ‘clear-up’ the streets and public spaces of North East Lincolnshire was a great success, say organisers who are now looking at how they can further their work to keep the area tidy.

Earlier this month, North East Lincolnshire Council joined forces with Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, LHP, to run Skip It on the East Marsh in Grimsby and on Immingham’s Reedmere Estate. LHP, the area’s premier social housing landlord, has significant numbers of properties in both areas.

With a total tonnage collected of 27,880kg, in addition to the white goods and general waste, the haul included cardboard, scrap metal, green and general waste, furniture, scrap metal and wood – with more than 10 tonnes being recycled.

LHP Director of Customers Bridget Lloyd, said: “This is the first time LHP has been involved with Skip It and what a great thing to do, with so much waste taken away. We once again extend our thanks to North East Lincolnshire Council and hope that we can continue this relationship into the future.
