IT donations for local schools 10 February 2021 Supporting our local communities

As part of our commitment to Listen, Act and Learn, we promote a Suggestions Scheme to our employees through our company intranet.

In January, a suggestion came forward from our Area Housing Manager & Involvement Manager Marianne Upton about making donations of IT equipment to schools in the communities we serve to assist families that were struggling to access devices to aid home schooling.

She said: “The national lockdown meant that a lot of customers needed to home school their children at an important time in their education and development.

“For a lot of our customers, they simply don’t have access to the equipment that is so vital to children who are being home schooled.”

This was something we were eager to support and we contacted schools in our communities around Lincolnshire. Woodlands Academy, on the Nunsthorpe Estate in Grimsby was one of the schools to benefit from donations.

James Elliott, Assistant Head said: “We are delighted with the extra support for our children during remote learning.

“We are seeing a great difficulty for families having suitable devices for their children to log in, access and actively participate across all year groups.”
