Late in 2020, we held an all-employee briefing over Microsoft Teams where a suggestion was put forward to support local foodbanks through fundraising.
The good news was that we decided to raise funds for the We Are One Foundation in Grimsby and Boston Foodbank. The even better news was that we doubled the donations that our staff made to these two worthwhile charities.
Chloe Glibert, one of our Housing Officers, first made the suggestion to support local food banks.
She said: "I suggested raising money for the foodbanks due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
"Many of our customers are not able to work, some have lost their jobs or are not able to run their businesses due to restrictions.
"So many more people are relying on benefits and support and, during the winter months, the strain is even more apparent.
"Organisations in Boston and Grimsby have said that there has been a huge rise in the need for food parcels from people of all walks of life.
"Every penny we have raised will be a great help to the foodbanks and likely a lot of people in the communities we serve."
In total, we raised over £550 for both charities. You can find out more about their work by visiting them online at www.weareonefoundation.co.uk and www.boston.foodbank.org.uk.
