A flood warning is now in force for waterside properties between Town Bridge and Haven Bridge in Boston.

Stormy conditions are forecast, resulting in a tidal surge moving down the East Coast of England from Monday. The high tides combined with strong winds are expected to result in large waves and possible seepage through the sea defences.

The time and date of the forecast high water is 8:20am on Tuesday, 1 October 2019. Flooding to properties could occur through low level seepage however we are not expecting flooding through overtopping.

Low lying roads are expected to flood at these times in combination with surface water. Flooding conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Avoid quays, footpaths and roads adjacent to Witham Haven, as sea spray and large waves can be dangerous.

In addition, there is also a flood alert in place for the tidal River Witham, the Haven and Wash frontage near Boston.

Unusually high tide levels are predicted along the tidal River Witham in and around Boston. The time of the high water is from 7:40am on Monday, 30 Sep 2019, however conditions may apply 2 to 4 hours either side of high tide.

High tides combined with strong winds may result in wind-blown spray and wave splash causing localised pooling of water behind sea defences. Low lying coastal land and roads will be affected first.

Forecasts indicate that flooding to properties isn't likely on Monday. We are expecting the situation to worsen on Tuesday morning and we're expecting property flooding in Boston then. It is very likely that flood warnings will be issued for Tuesday morning's tide in Boston.

Any of our customers that are within the close vicinity of the River Witham in the areas described in the warning, please be vigilant around the time of the predicted surge. Also for any customers who have been previously affected by flooding, and have additional flood resilient measures, such as flood doors/barriers, please make sure these are closed or installed correctly.

This warning may well change in severity throughout the day.
