Have your say: proposed changes to Home Choice Lincs

We’re asking LHP customers to share their views on proposed changes to Home Choice Lincs, which is the system used to manage social housing applications and advertise most available social homes across North and North East Lincolnshire.

Home Choice Lincs helps assess housing needs and prioritise applicants, with homes offered to those in the highest need first. The proposed updates aim to make the policy clearer, fairer and easier to understand for everyone who might need a social home.

What’s being proposed

Local councils are consulting on changes that would:

  • Put local families, workers, volunteers and unpaid carers first when homes become available.
  • Strengthen the importance of local connection, including a proposed minimum residence period in North Lincolnshire before joining the register.
  • Provide additional protections for care leavers, veterans and survivors of domestic abuse.
  • Clarify how the priority bands work so applicants can more easily see where they stand.

These proposals are designed to make the best use of a limited supply of social homes and ensure they go to those who need them most.

Why your feedback matters

As a partner in Home Choice Lincs, Lincolnshire Housing Partnership (LHP) lets homes through this system alongside other local landlords. As an LHP customer, you’ll likely have applied for your home via Home Choice Lincs. You may use Home Choice Lincs in the future to apply for another home, or may have friends or family members who will use the system. That means any changes could affect current applicants and anyone who may apply in future—so it’s important we hear from as many customers as possible.

Consultation dates and how to take part

The consultation is open from 12 January to 15 March 2026. It only takes around 10–15 minutes to complete the survey online. You can also read the full draft policy before you start.

If you have questions about your own application, please contact the Home Choice Lincs team directly via the details on their website.

What happens next

Once the consultation closes, feedback will be reviewed and used to update the final policy before it is adopted by the partnership. We’ll keep customers informed of any changes and what they mean for applications and bidding.

Thank you for taking the time to have your say. Your views help shape a fair, transparent system that supports our communities.
