Mobility Scooter Permission

We understand that mobility scooters can help customers maintain their independence and stay connected to their community. However, mobility scooters and their batteries can present a serious fire and safety risk if they are stored or charged incorrectly.

If you or someone in your household has, or is considering getting, a mobility scooter, you must ask Lincolnshire Housing Partnership (LHP) for permission first.

This applies whether the scooter will be stored:

  • inside your home
    • in a mobility scooter store
    • in a shed, garage or garden area
    • outside a property or building

We ask customers to contact us first so we can help make sure the scooter can be stored and charged safely, without increasing fire risks or blocking escape routes.

Please note, mobility scooters must not be stored or charged in communal areas such as corridors, stairwells, landings, shared entrances or other communal escape routes.

As part of the permission process, we may need to assess the proposed storage location and discuss safe charging arrangements with you. In some cases, additional safety measures or advice may be required before permission can be granted.

We aim to respond to requests within 10 working days.

To request permission or discuss your options, please contact us before buying or bringing a mobility scooter onto LHP property.
