Having a bank account is a good way to manage your money.
You can pay in your wages, benefits, tax credits and state pension and you may be able to set up Direct Debits to pay your regular bills like rent and Council Tax.
The accounts are easy to use, providing you with all the elements of a standard current account including a cash card to withdraw your money. However, you won't usually have a cheque book or an overdraft facility so you can't go into debt.
All of the major high street banks offer some form of basic bank account – you just need to find the one that is right for you.
